Vision & product overview
"LinkedIn already has the world's largest professional network. Mentorship is the highest-value action that network was never designed to facilitate — until now."
LinkedIn Mentorship is a native feature that transforms passive professional connections into structured, paid career-guidance sessions. Rather than building a new platform from scratch, this feature embeds a full mentor marketplace — discovery, booking, payment, chat, and review — directly inside LinkedIn's existing product, leveraging the trust, profile data, and professional graph already in place.
Accelerate Your Career Growth — Connect with experienced mentors or guide the next generation.

Problem Statement & Market Opportunity

02
What is broken in professional mentorship today
Problem 1
Mentorship is inaccessible for most professionals
Mentorship relies entirely on who you know — it's network-dependent
No structured marketplace: cold LinkedIn DMs go unanswered 90%+ of the time
High-quality mentors are gatekept behind expensive accelerators or MBA programs
No way to vet quality: no reviews, no track record, no accountability
Problem 2
Experienced professionals can't monetize their expertise
Senior professionals already informally mentor via DMs and coffee chats — for free
No native platform allows them to set rates, manage schedules, and get paid
Third-party tools (Calendly + Stripe) create friction and look unprofessional
No discovery mechanism — great mentors are invisible to those who need them
Problem 3
Career transitions are underpowered on LinkedIn today
LinkedIn helps you find jobs but not navigate how to get them
No structured way to get advice on interview prep, career pivots, or leadership transitions
Premium subscription doesn't solve the human guidance gap
Problem 4
Existing platforms lack LinkedIn's trust layer
MentorCruise, ADPList, Clarity.fm exist — but have no verified professional identity
Mentor credibility can't be independently verified on third-party platforms
None of them have LinkedIn's existing 950M professional user base
The LinkedIn Mentorship Opportunity
950M+ LinkedIn users = largest professional network ever built
$6.7B professional coaching market growing at 6.7% CAGR
LinkedIn Premium at $40/mo — mentorship could command $150/session
Mentors already on LinkedIn — zero cold-start supply problem
Zero verified-identity competitors: LinkedIn is the only trust layer that exists
Gen Z and Millennial professionals willing to pay for structured career guidance

Senior Engineering Manager · Ex-Google · $149/hr

Persona C · Career Switcher
David Kim, 26
Backend Developer → wants to transition to AI/ML
Core need
Three years ago was a backend developer. Connected with an AI Research Lead who guided his transition. Now mentors others on the same path. The platform creates a flywheel: today's mentee is tomorrow's mentor.
